Ingredients 10

check

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

check

2 large eggs

check

1 tablespoon milk

check

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

check

1 cup light brown sugar

check

0.25 cup white sugar

check

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

check

0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted and hot

check

1.5 cups roughly chopped pecans

check

0.333 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • 1

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Put a baking sheet lined with foil on the bottom oven rack.

  • 2

Place dough in a 9-inch pie pan and crimp edges if desired.

  • 3

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until pale and frothy, around 2 minutes. Whisk in milk and vanilla. Stir in the brown sugar, white sugar, and flour until well combined. Pour in melted butter and whisk until fully combined. Mix in the pecans.

  • 4

Spread chocolate chips evenly over the bottom of the pie crust. Carefully pour the filling over top and lightly tap the pan so it settles.

  • 5

Bake in the center of the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Turn the heat down to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for another 30 to 35 minutes, until the crust is golden and the filling is set and not jiggly.

  • 6

Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature before serving, about 2 hours. Once it cools to room temperature, you can chill it in the fridge and serve cold if you like.
