Ingredients 4

check

5 large blood oranges

check

0.5 cup cold water

check

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice, or to taste

check

1.75 cups white sugar

Instructions

  • 1

Wash the oranges. Peel the skin in long strips. It is fine if some white part stays on the peel.

  • 2

Put peels in a pot with 6 cups of water. Boil it on high heat. Lower the heat and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes until the peels are soft.

  • 3

Cut the oranges in half. Squeeze the juice into a cup. You need 1 cup of juice. Add 1/2 cup of cold water and set it aside.

  • 4

Take the peels out of the pot and pour out the water. Let the peels cool. Cut them into thin strips and put them in the juice.

  • 5

Put the juice and peels in the pot. Add lemon juice and sugar. Simmer on medium-high heat. Lower the heat and stir sometimes for 30 to 40 minutes. The heat should reach 225 degrees F or 107 degrees C.

  • 6

Check your jars for cracks. Put them in hot water. Wash new lids in soapy water.

  • 7

Pour the jam into the jars. Let them cool. Seal the jars and put them in the fridge for 8 hours or overnight.
