    Step 1 (Rub 3 pounds beef cheek meat with 1 tablespoon olive oil, 0.25 cup salt, 2 teaspoons ground cumin, and some ground black pepper. Wrap it in aluminum foil and put it in the fridge for 4 hours or overnight.)

    Step 2 (Put 2 cups water into a slow cooker.)

    Step 3 (Put 0.5 sliced yellow onion and 3 chopped garlic cloves around the beef cheek meat in the foil. Wrap the foil tightly around the meat and vegetables. Add another sheet of foil around it and seal it tightly. Put it in the slow cooker.)

    Step 4 (Cook on Low for 7 to 8 hours, adding more water if needed. Remove the foil packet from the slow cooker and shred the meat with 2 forks.)
