Ingredients 11
1.5 pounds beef neck bones, or more to taste
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.5 cup all-purpose flour, divided
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups beef broth
1 onion, sliced into long pieces
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the slow cooker to High.
-
2
Clean the neck bones and remove excess fat. Season with cumin, allspice, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt. Dust with 0.25 cup flour.
-
3
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook garlic until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high and add the seasoned neck bones. Cook until they start to brown, about 1 minute per side.
-
4
Transfer the neck bones and drippings to the slow cooker. Add beef broth and onion.
-
5
Cook on High for 1 hour. Then reduce heat to Low and cook for 4 to 6 hours.
-
6
Transfer the neck bones to a dish. Sprinkle the remaining 0.25 cup flour into the slow cooker and stir. Return the neck bones to the slow cooker. Let stand until the gravy thickens, 15 to 20 minutes.
